Traveling with Pets Guide

The newest edition of a AAA guide to traveling with your pets includes more than 400 campgrounds where pets are welcome. That is in addition to nearly 13,000 pet-friendly hotels in the U.S. and Canada which are listed in the book. "Traveling With Your Pet: the AAA PetBook" is available at AAA Oregon/Idaho service centers. The cost is $14.50 for members and $17.95 for nonmembers.

Battle Over Dunes Area Halts Camping

May 30, 2005 - Eugene, Oregon

A news story from KVAL 13 in Eugene, OR. has alerted us to the fact that the dunes just south of the Umpqua River lighthouse are temporarily closed. There is an attempt to transfer control from the state to the county which as evidently led to their closing. A larger area has been opened southwest of the lighthouse but can only be used on select weekends. County commissioners are making an effort to get the word out and signs are being made to redirect you to the new location. We have emailed KVAL to see if they have any further news when the dunes might reopen. Update to follow.
